A relaxing, warm-hearted restaurant for regulars and the owner

Founded in 1985. The current owner, Mr. Atsushi Horikawa, has been helping with this restaurant opened by his mother and uncle for around 30 years. Along with the restaurant’s extensive history, both their menu options and friendly regular guests have increased over the years.

These guests include couples in their 80s, foreign travelers from overseas, and ordinary people returning from work – a truly diverse group. They enjoy gazing at the seafood items stocked from the markets, including the sashimi and sweetfish boiled with Japanese black peppers starting from 500 JPY, in addition to the grilled chicken and winter-exclusive oden (fishcake and vegetable stew) menu. Everyone here feels relaxed, as if they were at a relative’s house, while they enjoy seasonal cuisine. One British guest here said that the first Japanese word he learned was “joren-san” or “regular guest.” Mr. Horikawa says that first-time guests are already considered regulars when they visit again. You’ll want to stop by not only for the high-quality seasonal food, but also for the owner’s friendly character.

Counter seats and two table seats available. The name “Chikurin” comes from the restaurant’s location near Seimei Jinjya.
