Enjoy bistro cuisine for a reasonable price at a Kyomachiya (traditional townhouse) in Gion
This bistro is located on Kawabata-dori Street alongside the eastern bank of the Kamo River, an oasis for the soul of all Kyotoites. You can enjoy casual French cuisine in a beautifully renovated venue that utilizes the old-time charm of Kyomachiya with its narrow fronts and deep rears. The quality of the chef’s popular dishes is backed by the relationship the chef has with his wholesale brokers. These dishes include fan favorites such as the oven-roasted Japanese spiny lobster with Bourguignon butter (which may be ordered à la carte or as a part of the prix-fixe menu) and the thickly sliced salmon served rare with Shogoin Turnip sauce for \2,200. The chef contacts his wholesale brokers each morning to purchase the freshest possible seafood at the most reasonable price. The prix-fixe dinner starts at \4,180 and the monthly special lunches from \1,650. You can enjoy a glass of wine from \660. A meal at this price in the highly accessible Gion area is certainly a treat!
In addition to the counter seats looking out to the courtyard, there are seats surrounding a horigotatsu (tatami mat seating with sunken heating) and private rooms for four to six guests. There is also a banquet hall that can accommodate up to 20 people.
