Enjoy the seasonal fare of Kyoto in a historic pavilion made of hinoki cypress
Ryori Rryokan Tsuruse is located at the foot of the Gojo Bridge, a historic site famous for the duel between Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Benkei. The three-story building made entirely of hinoki cypress was built at the beginning of the Showa era and has rooms of various sizes, including a spectacular 200-mat great hall. The current owner and chef, who is the fourth-generation owner of the inn, personally goes to the market to purchase ingredients and creates vivid kaiseki dishes by utilizing traditional techniques. The full kaiseki course starting with the hassun (seasonal platter) and otsukuri (sashimi plate), followed by suimono (soup course), takiawase (simmered vegetables), yakimono (grilled fish course), agemono (fried fish course), and topped off by the mizumono (dessert) is filled with seasonal flavors. Seasonal nabe (hot pots) using the conger pike and blowfish are unique to Tsuruse and also very popular. In the summertime, you can also enjoy your meals on the noryo-yuka (wooden terraces for enjoying the breeze) on the Kamo River.

Enjoy Kyoto cuisine from a room overlooking the Kamo River. The great hall on the third floor is a 200-mat room that can accommodate up to 300 people for banquets.
