“Monmo (au naturel)” Kyoto cuisine that maximizes the appeal of the ingredients
Opened in 1928, Honke Tankuma Honten offers “monmo” Kyoto cuisine at its sukiya-zukuri (in the style of a tea-ceremony house) building on the banks of the Kamo River. You can enjoy various dishes of Kyoto cuisine, which has been prepared “monmo,” which means “au naturel.” Foodstuffs that have been procured from the market upon careful communication with the market are prepared without any fuss to directly bring out their essence. Honke Tankuma Honten offers uzura manju (minced quail balls) and other superb dishes using the freshest vegetables and fish that evoke the seasons. While preserving traditional aesthetics, it offers such menus as the halal kaiseki, vegetarian kaiseki, and kaiseki courses with wine pairing to remain relevant and in tune with today’s world.

Enjoy a special experience in a luxurious private dining room overlooking the Kamo River. Table and horigotatsu (sunken floors under the tables for legroom) seatings are also offered for those who find tatami seating inconvenient.
