From Shichijo-dori Street, go north on Shinsenbon-dori Street to the Kyoto Municipal Wholesale Market. Kyo-Suzaku Sushi-Ichiba will be the first sushi shop to appear as you enter the market. You will be greeted by the lively sushi chefs at the counter. You can enjoy extra-fresh seasonal seafood, including authentic sushi and donburi (rice bowls) as well as reasonably-priced prix fixe menus.
“Umekoji” is a simple menu consisting of nigiri-zushi and akadashi (red) miso soup, topped off with matcha pudding for dessert, all for 1,870 yen.
“Suzaku” is a filling menu with premium nigiri-zushi, sashimi, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), akadashi (red) miso soup, and matcha pudding for dessert, for 3,520 yen.
The shop starts early and serves customers throughout the day without any breaks, so you can drop in for breakfast or even a late lunch.
