Creative izakaya that is a big part of life in this geisha district
Located a 3-min. walk from Kenninji Temple. As one of Kyoto’s five geisha districts, Miyagawa-cho takes you on an extraordinary trip just by walking through its stone pavement. A glance at the flower business cards of the geisha and maiko (dancers) at the 1F counter tells just how beloved they are in this area. This izakaya’s location in a very authentic, traditionally Japanese area lets it offer experiences that can’t be found in everyday life. Many repeat guests come for the Western-style food, including the specialty Wagyu beef cuts sandwich, creamy mentaiko pasta, and addictive French fries. This izakaya is an important part of the area, as it lets you enjoy what you’re in the mood for that day at reasonable prices – including the flounder carpaccio that can be simply enjoyed with olive oil and Balsamic vinegar at ¥1,320, crispy pork salad, and pumpkin spring rolls. Groups can also be accommodated, and the Chef’s Choice Course with all-you-can-drink starts at ¥6,600.

The 2F sitting room is perfect for hosting people from outside of Kyoto. The 1F counter seats, where the inner garden can be seen through the glass, let you enjoy conversation with the chefs, including the owner.
